Boyer Valley,
Many communities, many schools, many alumni

First there was the Catholic School in Dunlap (see the bottom photo), then there was the Dunlap Schools- but there have also been schools in Arion, Dow City, East Monona (Soldier and Moorhead), as well as a number of small country schools.

  • Dow Cityconsolidated with Arion in 19?? Dow City-Arion started whole-grade sharing with Dunlap in 1989. The DCA mascot was the Greyhound and their colors were orange and black. The two schools reorganized on July 1, 1994 to form Boyer Valley. An alumni banquet is held every Memorial Day weekend.
  • Moorhead consolidated with Soldier in 1963 to form East Monona Community School. East Monona's colors were black and gold and their mascot was the Thunderhawks or the T-Hawks. East Monona was dissolved on July 1, 2004.
  • Dunlap started whole-grade sharing with Dow City-Arion in 1989. The two schools reorganized on July 1, 1994 to form Boyer Valley.
